Postpartum Doula Services
Baby Body Soul (BBS) offers comprehensive postpartum care, focused on your family's individual needs. Care is provided in the home, beginning as soon as you feel you need support. The purpose of care is to help ease the transition of becoming a new parent . . . whether is it your first child or your fourth!
BBS Postpartum care is focused on (but not limited to) the following:
* General well being of mother and newborn
* Bathing, changing, and assisting with newborn feeding & care
* Encouraging bonding between newborn and all family members
* Breastfeeding assistance & support
* Education on many topics (i.e. baby wearing, skin to skin contact, newborn care, prevention and early recognition of postpartum depression, etc.)
* Light meal prepartion, house cleaning, errands, sibling care, pet care, etc.
CAPPA Postpartum Doula Scope of Practice:
"The main objective of the Postpartum Doula's role is not to take over complete care of the newborn, but to educate and support the family so that they will feel confident to care for their newborn themselves. Postpartum Doulas do NOT offer any medical advice or perform any medical or clinical procedures, but instead can offer parents referrals to appropriate studies and published books. For needs beyond the scope of the Postpartum Doula, referrals are made to the appropriate resources."
Baby Body Soul Postpartum Care:
Daytime Care (7am–7pm) with a minimum of 3-hours of care.
Evening / Overnight Care (7pm–7am) with a minimum of 6-hours of care.
We recommend a minimum of 3-hours of care, 2-3 times per week for the first week or so as baby is integrated into the family and new routines are established, but ultimately frequency of care is dependent on your family's needs.
Needs typically vary widely. Some families only want 1-2 weeks of care to get them through the initial transition of bringing baby home, and others may need support for anywhere from 6 weeks to 3 months. Whatever your needs are, we have a support plan ready to be customized for you!
